  • Discontinued product; not recommended for new purchases
  • GMP221 probes for percentage-level CO₂ up to 20%
  • GMP222 probes for ppm-level CO₂ up to 10,000 ppm
  • GMH70 diffusion handle or GM70PUMP sampling system
  • MI70 indicator with numerical, graphical and logging functions
  • Used for field checking compatible fixed Vaisala CO₂ instruments
  • Use Vaisala Indigo80 for new portable measurement systems

Legacy Portable CO₂ Measurement System

The Vaisala GM70 combined an MI70 handheld indicator with a GMP221 or GMP222 CARBOCAP® probe. It was used for portable CO₂ spot checks, short-term data logging, diffusion measurement, pump-aspirated sampling and comparison with compatible installed transmitters.

The short GMP221 probe covered percentage-level ranges, while the longer GMP222 covered ppm-level ranges. The probe could be fitted to the GMH70 diffusion handle or installed in the GM70PUMP sampling unit when gas had to be drawn through tubing or an equipment sampling port.

Discontinued model: GM70, GMP221 and GMP222 should not be specified for a new system. Select the replacement according to concentration and sampling method: Indigo80 with GMP80P for portable pump sampling at percentage-level CO₂, or Indigo80 with GMP252 for portable ppm-level diffusion measurement.

GMP80P Portable Pump Sampling

GMP80P combines a pump-assisted sampling body with GMP251 percentage-level CO₂ measurement. Connected to Indigo80, it is designed for portable sampling from incubators and for spot checking compatible fixed CO₂ instruments.

  • Indigo80 powers the GMP80P and displays the measured CO₂ value.
  • The sampling inlet accepts the appropriate stainless-steel, polyurethane or Nafion™ arrangement.
  • A condensation window helps the operator check whether liquid is present in the sampling path.
  • Indigo80 can log the measurement and support calibration or adjustment of the incorporated GMP251 probe.
  • Vaisala Insight PC software can provide configuration, diagnostics and calibration functions.

Existing GM70 Support and Migration Checks

  1. Record the MI70 indicator, probe, handle or pump and all cable item codes.
  2. Identify whether the existing probe is GMP221 or GMP222 and record its calibrated range.
  3. Confirm whether measurements are made by diffusion or pump sampling.
  4. List every fixed instrument that is checked with the GM70 and the cable used for each one.
  5. Confirm whether ppm or percentage-level CO₂ is required.
  6. Review sampling-tube length, material, volume, moisture and required response time.
  7. Select the Indigo80 probe or GMP80P configuration for the actual measurement task.
  8. Do not assume old GM70 cables connect directly to Indigo80 or the replacement probe.
  9. Plan a reference comparison before retiring a working legacy system.

Vaisala GM70 Replacement Support in Malaysia

Seacom Process Instruments supports users of the discontinued Vaisala GM70 Handheld CO₂ Meter in Malaysia and can assist with migration to an Indigo80-based portable measurement system.

Our team can review the existing GM70, GMP221 or GMP222 range, diffusion handle, GM70PUMP, sampling tubes and instrument-checking cables. We can then recommend Indigo80 with GMP80P, GMP251 or GMP252 according to the concentration range, sampling method and instruments being checked.

Replacing a GM70? Send us clear photos of the indicator, probe labels, handle or pump and cable item codes, together with the CO₂ range, sampling method, applications and fixed instruments you need to check.
