The Vaisala MGP262 continuously measures methane slip and carbon dioxide in offgas from biomethane-upgrading processes. Its in-situ design provides direct, always-on measurement without a separate sampling system.
The Vaisala CARBOCAP® MGP262 is designed for direct measurement of methane and carbon dioxide in the offgas stream of a biogas-upgrading plant. It focuses on the low methane concentrations that indicate valuable biomethane is escaping with the carbon-dioxide-rich offgas.
Continuous in-line measurement gives operators immediate process feedback. The upgrading system can be adjusted using actual offgas composition instead of relying only on periodic samples, helping improve biomethane recovery, reduce avoidable methane emissions and document process performance.
The MGP262 has a 0–5 vol-% methane range and is optimised for CO2-rich offgas from biomethane upgrading. For raw biogas with substantially higher methane concentration, or when humidity measurement is required, select the Vaisala MGP261.
The MGP262 is an in-line process instrument for gas-composition measurement. It is not an ambient combustible-gas detector or a personnel-safety alarm. Use a dedicated fixed gas-detection system for room or plant-area safety monitoring.

The published accuracy applies under defined reference conditions, includes temperature and pressure compensation and excludes cross-gas interference. Correct compensation settings and a representative measurement point are important to overall system performance.

The MGP262 is available with hazardous-area certifications that support a probe section in Zone 0 and an external section in Zone 1 under the specified installation conditions. Certification markings and permitted ambient conditions vary by region and product version.
