RCM Flow Meters and Flow Switches

Seacom supplies RCM flow meters and flow switches. Our range includes Flo-Gage flow meters for local flow indication and Flo-Gard II flow switches for detecting high or low flow conditions.

Whether you need to check cooling-water delivery, observe a process flow or provide a flow-status signal to a control system, we can help you compare suitable configurations for your application.

Our RCM Product Range

  • Flo-Gage flow meters — direct-reading instruments with a dial showing flow rate in the selected engineering units.
  • Flo-Gard II flow switches — instruments that change an electrical contact state when flow crosses a selected switching point.
  • Application-specific configurations — options for materials, connections, measurement ranges and electrical functions, depending on the selected model.

Explore RCM Instruments

  • RCM Flo-Gage Orifice Flow Meter — measures flow using the pressure difference across a calibrated restriction. The local dial provides a direct flow-rate indication. Select the appropriate configuration for the liquid or gas and its operating conditions.
  • RCM Flo-Gard II Liquid Flow Switch — provides a switching signal for high- or low-flow detection. Suitable applications can include cooling circuits, lubrication systems and equipment flow monitoring, subject to fluid and operating-condition compatibility.

Flow Meter or Flow Switch?

  • Choose a flow meter when you need to read the flow rate. A local indication helps operators check operating conditions and compare readings during inspection or maintenance.
  • Choose a flow switch when you need a threshold signal. The contact can be used by a suitable control circuit to indicate that flow has risen above or fallen below a selected point.
  • Specify both functions if required. If your application needs local indication together with switching or a transmitted signal, include these requirements when requesting a configuration.

Applications and Measurement Tasks

  • Cooling-water circuits — checking water delivery to equipment and detecting changes in flow.
  • Lubrication systems — monitoring compatible oils within the instrument’s specified viscosity and temperature limits.
  • Pump and equipment monitoring — providing flow information or a switching input for the machine’s control logic.
  • Industrial process lines — observing suitable liquid flows during routine operation and troubleshooting.
  • Compressed-air and gas lines — measuring flow with an appropriately specified gas-service model and calibration.

Selecting the Right RCM Instrument

Provide the following details so the instrument can be matched to your process:

  • Fluid: Identify the liquid or gas, including any additives, contamination or material-compatibility requirements.
  • Flow range: State minimum, normal and maximum flow, with the required units.
  • Pressure and temperature: Include normal operation and expected extremes. For gas measurement, specify operating pressure and temperature as well as the flow reference conditions.
  • Liquid properties: Include viscosity and specific gravity where available, especially for oils and fluids other than water.
  • Pipe connection: Confirm pipe size, thread or flange type, installation orientation and available space.
  • Allowable pressure loss: Check that the pressure drop through the instrument is acceptable for the system.
  • Switching requirements: State the desired switching point, contact arrangement and electrical load for a flow switch.

Replacing an Existing RCM Flow Meter or Switch?

Send us the complete model number and a clear photo of the nameplate, dial and process connections. For a flow switch, include the existing switching point and wiring details.

Matching the pipe size alone is not sufficient. The replacement should also suit the fluid, flow range, operating conditions and required electrical function.
