Anritsu S Series Surface Temperature Probes
The Anritsu S Series includes surface temperature probes for different contact arrangements. Select the family according to the size of the measurement area, whether the surface moves, and how the probe will be supported.
- S-100, S-200 and S-300 families for stationary surfaces.
- S-400 family for very small measurement surfaces.
- S-500 and S-600 families for moving and rotating surfaces.
- S-770 and S-780 self-supporting designs.
- Type K and Type E configurations, with model-specific temperature ratings.

Anritsu lists corresponding Type E versions of these examples. Published tolerance is ±2.5°C at a 100°C surface. Response times refer to manufacturer test conditions; neither the tolerance nor the temperature rating should be transferred to a different configuration without checking its specifications.
Probe Designs and Selection Charts
Selecting an S Series Probe
- Surface size and shape: Provide the contact area, material and surface finish. A small target may need a different sensing-head arrangement.
- Movement: For a moving surface, provide its speed and direction. For a roller, include the diameter and rotational speed.
- Temperature: State the normal and maximum operating temperatures.
- Probe support: Explain whether the probe will be held by hand, supported in a fixture or placed on the target.
- Instrument connection: Provide your thermometer or logger model to match the thermocouple type and connector.
Contact conditions and wear influence performance on moving surfaces. A manufacturer's endurance test is not a universal speed limit or a guarantee of service life in every application.
