Selecting a Food Temperature Probe

  • Sample: Describe the food or material, its thickness and whether it is soft, firm, liquid or frozen.
  • Measurement depth: Choose a length that can reach the required internal measurement point.
  • Temperature: Provide the lowest and highest expected temperatures so the appropriate configuration can be checked.
  • Response: Consider how quickly readings are needed and how the probe will be inserted into the sample.
  • Cleaning: Explain the cleaning method and chemicals used so suitability can be confirmed.
  • Instrument: Provide the thermometer or logger model to match the thermocouple type and connector.

IPX5 should not be interpreted as approval for prolonged immersion, dishwashing or steam sterilisation. Follow the manufacturer's cleaning instructions for the selected configuration.
