Measurement Notes

  • Tolerance: ±3°C at 100°C for the manufacturer’s example configurations. Tolerance changes with temperature; do not apply this figure across every operating condition.
  • Response: the specified 5 seconds is a 99% response test in boiling water or vapour. Response after installation on a surface can differ.
  • Temperature limits: the sensing section, cable and connector must each remain within their permitted conditions.
  • Construction: the screw-setting part is stainless steel. Anritsu lists SC probes as non-repairable and does not give a standard durability period for this special application.

Choosing the Right Screw-Mounted Probe

  • Mounting point: check the screw size, available contact area and clearance for the cable exit.
  • Surface contact: review the surface finish and how the sensing section will seat against the target. The mounting arrangement affects heat transfer.
  • Operating conditions: provide the normal temperature, expected peaks, vibration and any exposure to liquids or cleaning agents.
  • Cable route: identify the required reach and support the cable so it does not pull on the sensing point.
  • Instrument: confirm the thermometer or data logger’s thermocouple input and plug type.
