The EDL Steel-Cased Pocket-Probe is a portable digital thermocouple thermometer for production, maintenance and laboratory temperature checks.
Probes are sold separately. Match the probe’s thermocouple type and temperature range to the selected instrument.
The EDL Steel-Cased Pocket-Probe is a portable contact thermometer, also called a digital pyrometer, for temperature checks on the production floor, during maintenance and in the laboratory. Its protective steel housing suits applications where the instrument is handled frequently.
Connect a suitable thermocouple probe to measure the target temperature. Select the instrument and probe together according to the material, temperature range and access to the measurement point.

The instrument is supplied for a specific thermocouple type. It does not switch between K, J, E and T inputs. The ranges below are instrument ranges; the connected probe may have a lower temperature limit.
| Thermocouple type | Instrument range |
|---|---|
| Type K | −270 to 1372°C |
| Type J | −210 to 1200°C |
| Type E | −270 to 1000°C |
| Type T | −270 to 400°C |
Specify the thermocouple type and steel-case configuration when requesting a quotation. Sensors are sold separately.
| Specification | Steel-Cased Pocket-Probe |
|---|---|
| Published instrument accuracy | 1°C or 1°F; refer to the manufacturer’s accuracy data and conditions |
| Resolution | 0.1°C or 0.1°F |
| Display | LCD with approximately 12.7 mm (½-inch) characters |
| Power supply | 9 V battery |
| Case | Steel |
| Display window | Tempered glass; optional Lexan window |
| Dimensions | 5.75 × 3.9 × 2.2 inches (approximately 146 × 99 × 56 mm) |
| Weight | Approximately 635 g |
| Tested ambient range | 4 to 49°C, as listed in the steel-case catalogue |
| Reading rate | Three readings per second |
Reading rate describes the electronics, not how quickly a probe reaches the target temperature. Allow the reading to stabilise before recording it. Probe accuracy and contact conditions also affect the complete measurement.
| Option | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Peak-hold package | Stores the highest reading and provides a reset for the next measurement. Peak-hold operation is intended for temperatures above 0°C. |
| Magnetic backing | Included in the options package for mounting the instrument on a suitable magnetic surface. |
| Lexan display window | Alternative shatter-resistant window material. |
Send Seacom your existing probe model or connector photograph if you need to check compatibility. A physically matching plug alone does not establish that the sensor is suitable.
General factory calibration is included. Calibration at requested temperature points and a report traceable to NIST can be requested. Tell us which points and documentation your quality procedure requires so they can be included in the quotation.
Contact Seacom Process Instruments Sdn Bhd with the target temperature range, measurement surface or material, preferred probe arrangement and calibration requirements. For a replacement instrument, include the existing model number and thermocouple type.
