Watanabe WPMZ Series Colour LCD Digital Panel Meters

The Watanabe WPMZ Series features a colour LCD for displaying measurements from compatible sensors and equipment.

  • WPMZ-1: DC voltage and current.
  • WPMZ-3: Strain gauge measurement.
  • WPMZ-5: Rotation and speed.
  • WPMZ-6: Instantaneous flow and totalised flow.
  • Numeric, bar graph and trend display options.
  • Selectable power supplies, alarm outputs and communication options.

Watanabe WPMZ Series Digital Panel Meters

The Watanabe WPMZ Series provides a colour display for electrical and process measurements in machinery, control panels and production lines. Choose from four models for DC voltage and current, strain gauges, rotation and speed, or instantaneous and totalised flow.

Each model receives signals from compatible sensors or equipment. Select the input, power supply and output options for your application; one configuration does not cover every measurement type.

Key Features

  • 2.4-inch TFT full-colour LCD with five brightness settings.
  • Numeric, bar graph and trend graph display choices.
  • Selectable alarm background colours for clearer status indication.
  • 90° display rotation and adjustable cross-key assignment.
  • English and Japanese menu options.
  • Model-dependent calculation, comparison, hold and alarm logging functions.

Display and Operation

Adjust brightness to suit the viewing conditions, and use alarm colours to make a change in status easier to identify. Display rotation helps when the panel arrangement requires a vertical viewing orientation.

Two-Input Calculations: WPMZ-1 and WPMZ-3

Two-channel configurations support ten arithmetic expressions for calculations using channels A and B. Display one to three elements, such as the two measured values and their calculation result, to compare signals in one panel instrument.

WPMZ-1: DC Voltage and Current Measurement

WPMZ-1 DC voltage and current model

The WPMZ-1 displays DC signals from compatible equipment and sensors. Applications include dimensional comparison and production inspection. Its maximum sampling rate is 4,000 samples per second with one channel or 2,000 samples per second with two channels. Sampling speed is different from the screen refresh rate.

The alarm log can retain trend information for up to eight alarms, helping users investigate measurement behaviour around an alarm event.

WPMZ-3: Strain Gauge Measurement

WPMZ-3 strain gauge model

The WPMZ-3 supports strain-gauge measurement for tasks such as repeated press or load cycles. Waveform comparison checks a measured waveform against a comparison waveform. Multi-hold operation allows values from different sections of a cycle to be held and compared.

Maximum sampling is 4,000 samples per second for one channel or 2,000 samples per second for two channels. Match the sensor output and excitation requirements to the selected meter configuration.

WPMZ-5: Rotation and Speed Measurement

WPMZ-5 rotation and speed model

Use the WPMZ-5 with a compatible pulse source or line-driver encoder to indicate rotation and speed. It suits roller, drive and production-line monitoring. Confirm the signal level, frequency and scaling before selecting the input configuration.

WPMZ-6: Flow Rate and Totaliser

WPMZ-6 flow rate and totaliser model

The WPMZ-6 indicates instantaneous flow and accumulated flow from compatible pulse or analogue inputs. Two-channel applications can compare separate flow signals, for example when monitoring the flow difference in a mixing process.

This is a panel indicator for signals from external flow measurement equipment. The connected flowmeter determines suitability for the liquid, pipe and process conditions.

Power Supply and Output Options

SelectionAvailable options / checks
Power supply 100–240 V AC ±10%, 12 V DC ±10%, or 24–48 V DC ±10%, depending on the ordered version.
Analogue output Select the required output range and confirm compatibility with the receiving equipment.
BCD output NPN or PNP open-collector options.
Serial communication RS-232C or RS-485 with Modbus RTU options.
Comparator outputs AL1–AL4 functions; confirm the required NPN, PNP or relay output arrangement for the chosen model.

Options depend on the complete order code. Confirm which outputs can be combined, the number of input channels and the required supply before ordering.

Choosing the Right WPMZ Panel Meter

  • Measurement: identify whether the source is DC voltage/current, a strain gauge, an encoder or a flowmeter.
  • Input: provide the signal range, channel count and sensor connection details.
  • Display: decide whether you need numeric readings, a bar graph, a trend or a calculated result.
  • Control system: specify alarm outputs, analogue retransmission or serial communication.
  • Installation: check the supply, panel cut-out, clearance and operating environment.
