Vaisala CAB100 Industrial Cabinet for viewLinc Continuous Monitoring

The Vaisala CAB100 is a preconfigured industrial instrument cabinet that centralises differential-pressure transmitters, analog measurement inputs and associated interface equipment for the Vaisala viewLinc Continuous Monitoring System.

Designed for cleanrooms, laboratories, pharmaceutical production and demanding industrial environments, the CAB100 simplifies field installation by integrating selected monitoring components inside one organised, protected enclosure.

Two cabinet sizes are available. The compact CAB100A supports smaller monitoring systems, while the larger CAB100B provides greater channel capacity and supports mixed configurations for more complex facilities.

Why Choose the Vaisala CAB100?

  • Centralised Instrument Integration: Combines selected transmitters, data-acquisition components, power supplies and communication devices inside one cabinet.
  • Designed for viewLinc: Connects compatible measurements to viewLinc Enterprise Server for real-time monitoring, alarming and reporting.
  • Preconfigured Construction: Reduces the amount of instrument assembly and wiring required at the installation site.
  • Flexible Measurement Options: Supports differential pressure, analog inputs, safety barriers and galvanic isolators according to the selected model.
  • Two Cabinet Sizes: CAB100A suits smaller applications, while CAB100B provides higher measurement capacity.
  • Hazardous-Area Integration: Safety-barrier and galvanic-isolator configurations can interface with suitable intrinsically safe measurement devices.
  • Expandable Architecture: Cabinet devices can be changed or expanded subject to the model capacity and approved configuration.
  • Protected Enclosures: CAB100A is rated IP54 and CAB100B is rated IP66 when factory-installed enclosure flanges are used correctly.

CAB100 in a viewLinc Monitoring System

The CAB100 forms the central interface between field measurement devices and the viewLinc monitoring system. It is particularly useful when several cleanroom pressure transmitters or remote analog instruments need to be collected at one organised location.

System LayerFunction
Field Measurement Remote transmitters measure differential pressure, humidity, temperature or another configured parameter
CAB100 Cabinet Centralises selected transmitters, analog input channels, interface devices, power components and wiring
Facility Network Transfers measurement records from the cabinet to the monitoring server
viewLinc Enterprise Server Provides real-time trends, alarms, reports, audit trails and centralised system visibility

CAB100A and CAB100B Comparison

FeatureCAB100ACAB100B
Cabinet Size Compact cabinet Large-capacity cabinet
Typical Application Smaller cleanroom or industrial monitoring installations Larger facilities requiring more measurement channels or mixed configurations
Maximum PDT101 Transmitters 4 16
Maximum Analog Input Channels 4 32
Maximum Safety Barriers 4 16
Maximum Galvanic Isolators 4 12
Communication Interface Serial port server; vNet PoE interface is available for the applicable PDT101 model Multiport serial port server
Enclosure Protection IP54 IP66 and Type 4

Important: Maximum capacities depend on the selected cabinet model and configuration. Mixed CAB100B configurations are available with limitations and should be specified according to the complete project requirement.

Available CAB100 Configurations

ConfigurationPurpose
PDT101 Configuration Centralised differential-pressure monitoring for cleanrooms and pressure-controlled areas
Analog Input Configuration Connects compatible remote transmitters with current or voltage outputs through the selected input hardware
Safety-Barrier Configuration Limits electrical energy for suitable intrinsically safe measurement circuits in hazardous-area applications
Galvanic-Isolator Configuration Provides electrical isolation for suitable field measurement circuits
Mixed CAB100B Configuration Combines supported instrument types inside the larger cabinet, subject to configuration limitations

Cleanroom Differential-Pressure Monitoring

One of the principal CAB100 applications is centralised differential-pressure monitoring in pharmaceutical and high-technology cleanrooms. Multiple Vaisala PDT101 differential-pressure transmitters can be installed in the cabinet and connected to pressure tubing from the monitored rooms.

  • Room-to-Room Pressure: Verifies the intended pressure cascade between adjacent controlled spaces.
  • Room-to-Corridor Pressure: Confirms pressure direction between cleanrooms and surrounding corridors.
  • Airlock Monitoring: Supports monitoring of personnel and material airlocks.
  • Centralised Maintenance: Locating transmitters together simplifies access for inspection, zero adjustment and calibration.
  • Reduced Cleanroom Hardware: Pressure tubing can be routed to a cabinet positioned at an accessible technical location.

Analog Measurement Integration

Analog-input configurations allow compatible remote transmitters to be incorporated into the viewLinc monitoring system. This can support parameters beyond the directly connected Vaisala logger probes, provided the signal type, scaling, power requirements and cabinet configuration are compatible.

Common project considerations include:

  • Transmitter output type and measurement scaling
  • Loop-powered or externally powered operation
  • Required channel quantity
  • Cable routing and maximum wiring distance
  • Hazardous-area classification and intrinsic-safety requirements
  • Required measurement units and alarm thresholds in viewLinc

CAB100 analog input wiring is not surge protected. According to the installation requirements, analog input wiring must not exceed 30 metres and must not originate from outside the building in which the cabinet is installed.
