FUJIFILM Prescale Pressure Measurement Film

FUJIFILM Prescale helps make contact pressure visible. When pressure is applied, the film develops a red impression whose colour density varies with the applied pressure. This allows users to examine contact patterns and pressure distribution across a surface.

How Prescale Works

Pressure breaks microcapsules containing colour-forming material. The released dye reacts with a developer to produce a red image. Compare the result with the appropriate reference chart, taking the test temperature and humidity into account.

Two-sheet type: two separate films carry the colour-forming and colour-developing layers. Place their coated surfaces facing each other for measurement.

Prescale Film Grades and Pressure Ranges

Select a grade that covers the expected contact pressure. The table below lists the standard Prescale range.

Accuracy and Recommended Conditions

Follow the instructions supplied with the selected grade, including the pressure application time and reading procedure. The stated accuracy applies under the specified measurement conditions.

  • Presses and dies: inspect contact patterns during setup and adjustment.
  • Gaskets and flanges: examine how clamping pressure is distributed across mating surfaces.
