  • Web interface: Supports commissioning and configuration.
  • Malaysia project support: Contact Seacom for probe selection and installation requirements.

Expected availability: early 2027. Enquire with Seacom for configuration and delivery confirmation.

Vaisala Indigo520 Supervisor for Data Centre Monitoring

When a data centre has many humidity and temperature measurement points, getting the readings is only part of the job. The team also needs to identify each probe, check its condition and replace it during maintenance. The Vaisala Indigo520 Supervisor brings compatible compact probes into one managed network, with a local display and Modbus TCP communication to the BMS.

New product: expected availability early 2027. Contact Seacom for configuration, pricing and delivery confirmation.

Manage a Data Centre Sensor Network from One Host Unit

For a data hall, we normally start with the measurement locations: rack air inlets, selected aisle positions and support rooms. Each point should answer a clear operating question. Installing more probes will not help much if the readings do not represent the air reaching the equipment.

The Indigo520 Supervisor supports two daisy chains, with up to 50 probes per chain and 100 probes in total. The touchscreen gives the maintenance team a local view of measurements, probe status and alerts. Measurement data is available to the BMS through Modbus TCP.

For projects in Malaysia, Seacom can review the proposed probe locations, models, cable routes, power supply and BMS requirements before the equipment schedule is finalised.

Where to Consider Indigo520 Supervisor in a Data Centre

Consider the Supervisor when a new installation or expansion needs many compact humidity and temperature probes connected through a common interface. Typical locations to assess include rack air inlets, hot and cold aisles, server rooms and equipment support spaces. The suitable probe and mounting arrangement still depend on conditions at each location.

A room reading and a rack inlet reading serve different purposes. If the concern is the air supplied to the servers, place the probe where it can measure that air. Also allow enough access for calibration and replacement; a position that is easy to install may be difficult to service later.

See Seacom's data centre sensor selection and placement guide and humidity and temperature monitoring guide.

Touchscreen Monitoring and BMS Integration

The 5-inch touchscreen provides local access to measurements, system status and alerts. The web interface supports commissioning, and CSV configuration export helps document the probe network for handover and BMS work.

Before commissioning, agree with the BMS integrator which values are required and how the registers will be mapped. Modbus TCP provides the communication route over Ethernet. If the project uses DCIM, confirm how that system will receive the data.

Plan the chain layout, cable routing, power supply and service access together. Probe management and swap functions help with maintenance, but the 100-probe capacity should not be taken as a complete wiring design. Check the installation requirements for the actual number of probes and cable arrangement.

Compatible Probe Families

The B213106EN-A datasheet lists the following compatible probes. Specify the correct digital configuration and confirm the final chain arrangement before ordering.

Probe familyListed models
XMP10 humidity and temperature probes XMP10A, XMP10R, XMP10B, XMP10I, XMP10C, XMP10T
HMP110 family HMP110, HMP110T, HMP113, HMP115
HMP60 family HMP60, HMP63
Temperature probe TMP115

Measurement range, accuracy and available parameters depend on the selected probes. The Supervisor enclosure's operating temperature is not the measurement range of its connected probes.

Select the Supervisor for the Intended Architecture

Use the full name Indigo520 Supervisor in the specification and quotation request. It manages daisy-chained compact probes and has a different role from the conventional Indigo520 transmitter. Select from the Supervisor's own datasheet and compatible-probe list.

If the project also needs historical records, reports or a separate alarm workflow, include those requirements in the system design. A local display and BMS connection alone do not establish how records will be stored or reported.

Common Project Questions

How many probes can one Indigo520 Supervisor manage?

Up to 100 probes across two daisy chains, with a maximum of 50 probes per chain. Confirm compatible digital probe configurations, cable layout and power requirements for the installation.

How does the probe network connect to the BMS?

The Supervisor presents the probe network through Modbus TCP over Ethernet. Confirm the required measurements and register mapping with the BMS integrator.

Is this the same product as the conventional Indigo520 transmitter?

Specify the full name Indigo520 Supervisor for this compact-probe network architecture. Use its own compatible-device list and datasheet when selecting probes. For the conventional transmitter, refer to Seacom's Indigo510 and Indigo520 transmitter page.
