The Vaisala TMI110 is a high-accuracy immersion temperature transmitter designed for measuring cooling-water and heating-water temperatures in HVAC and building-automation systems.

With temperature accuracy of ±0.1 °C at +20 °C and a typical response time of less than eight seconds, the TMI110 supports precise and responsive control of chilled-water systems, cooling plants, air-handling units and data-centre cooling infrastructure.

Installation in a Water Pipeline

For chilled-water or heating-water measurement, the TMI110 probe should be installed in a compatible thermowell. The thermowell allows the transmitter to be removed for inspection or calibration without draining the complete pipeline.

  • Correct Insertion Depth: Select a probe length and thermowell that place the sensing section sufficiently inside the water flow.
  • Avoid Dead Zones: Do not position the thermowell in an area with stagnant water or poor circulation.
  • Maintain Thermal Contact: Ensure that the probe is correctly seated inside the thermowell.
  • Allow Service Access: Leave sufficient clearance to remove the probe and open the transmitter enclosure.
  • Protect the Electronics: Position the enclosure away from direct heat sources and within its specified operating range.

Installation in a Ventilation Duct

The TMI110 can also measure supply-air or return-air temperature when installed in a ventilation duct using a suitable mounting flange.

  • Install the probe where the air is properly mixed.
  • Avoid locations directly after heating or cooling elements unless that temperature is the intended measurement.
  • Select a probe length that places the sensing section within the main airflow.
  • Seal the duct opening to prevent air leakage around the probe.
