The Vaisala HMDW80 Series provides cost-effective humidity and temperature measurement for routine HVAC and building-automation applications.
The Vaisala INTERCAP® HMDW80 Series provides dependable humidity and temperature measurement for standard HVAC and building-automation applications. It is the cost-effective choice for projects where ±3% RH accuracy is suitable and straightforward installation with low maintenance is required.
The family includes HMW80 transmitters for indoor wall mounting, HMD80 transmitters for ventilation ducts and HMS80 transmitters for outdoor measurement. Temperature-only versions, protected wall models for humid locations, optional displays and several electrical-output configurations are available.

Use the model number to identify the mounting style, measured parameters, electrical output, display and enclosure protection. Models ending in D include a local display, while temperature-only models begin with T.

Model-number guide: choose an 82 model for 4–20 mA, an 83 or 89 model for 0–10 V, or HMW87 for Modbus RTU. Select a D version when a local display is required and a C outdoor version when a ½-inch NPT conduit fitting is needed.
The HMDW80 Series measures across the full 0–100% RH range using a field-replaceable Vaisala INTERCAP® sensor. Selected models measure temperature and can provide calculated parameters such as dew point, wet-bulb temperature or enthalpy.
Available configurations include current-output and voltage-output models. The correct transmitter should be selected according to the installation location, required measurement parameters, building-management-system input, display requirement and environmental protection.
Calibration note: the HMDW80 Series is not supplied with a calibration certificate. For projects requiring an included traceable calibration certificate, consider the HMDW110 Series or HMW90 Series.
These Vaisala HVAC transmitter families serve different measurement and control requirements. Choose according to accuracy, mounting location, communication method, calibration documentation and whether carbon-dioxide measurement is required.

Quick selection: choose the 80 Series for routine HVAC where cost and mounting flexibility are the priorities. Choose the 110 Series when better accuracy and a traceable certificate are required for wall, duct or outdoor measurement. Choose HMW90 for premium indoor wall measurement. Choose XMW85 for indoor Modbus systems, especially when CO₂ must be measured together with humidity and temperature.
Before ordering, confirm whether the measurement point is on a wall, inside a duct, in a humid area or outdoors. Also provide the required humidity and temperature accuracy, electrical output, controller input, display preference, power supply and calculated measurement parameter.
If the project requires Modbus communication, an included calibration certificate or CO₂ measurement, compare the HMDW80 configuration with the 110 Series, HMW90 and XMW85 before finalising the model.
