Dry Well Calibrator Practi-Cal Dry Well Calibrator Practi-Cal

EDL Practi-Cal Dry-Well and Surface Temperature Calibrator

The EDL Practi-Cal Series provides dry-well and surface testing facilities for compatible temperature probes.

  • PRI-1: Ambient to 350°C, aluminium block.
  • PRI-2: Ambient to 650°C, brass block.
  • Interchangeable wells and custom insert options.
  • Provision for an independent reference probe.
  • 0.1°C controller resolution.
  • RS-232 interface and iTools software.

EDL Practi-Cal Dry-Well and Surface Temperature Calibrator

The EDL Practi-Cal (PRI) Series combines an insertion dry well with a surface testing area for checking compatible temperature probes. It provides a practical temperature source for laboratory work, maintenance checks and production-floor sensor verification.

Choose PRI-1 for temperatures from ambient to 350°C or PRI-2 for ambient to 650°C. Both models use interchangeable wells so the calibration arrangement can be matched to the probe dimensions and measurement task.

Key Features

  • Insertion and surface probe testing in one instrument.
  • 76.2 mm (3-inch) block with a surface testing area.
  • Interchangeable inserts and custom-drilled wells.
  • Provision for an independent reference probe.
  • 0.1°C controller resolution and set-point memory recall.
  • RS-232 interface and iTools software.
  • NIST-traceable calibration certificate included by EDL.

Approximate heat-up examples 100°C in 10 minutes; 300°C in 20 minutes 300°C in 20 minutes; 500°C in 45 minutes; 600°C in 60 minutes

Accuracy depends on the environment and test arrangement. Resolution, stability and uniformity describe different aspects of performance and should not be treated as the total calibration uncertainty.

Insertion Probe Calibration

Choose a well that provides suitable clearance and insertion depth for the probe. An independent calibrated reference probe allows comparison measurements alongside the sensor under test.

Confirm the number and diameter of the supplied holes before ordering. Custom inserts can be specified for different sensor sizes; insert material must suit the intended temperature range.

Surface Probe Verification

The surface testing area supports compatible contact probes. Consistent positioning and contact pressure help make repeated checks meaningful. Surface temperature verification requires a suitable reference arrangement; a dry-well reading alone should not be assumed to represent the contacted surface temperature.

Power and Communication

The published standard supply is 120 V AC, 10 A, 50/60 Hz, with a 240 V AC option available. Specify the required supply when ordering. The RS-232 connection works with iTools for computer-based operation.

Selecting Your Calibration Setup

  • Temperature points: identify the lowest and highest required test temperatures.
  • Probe construction: provide stem diameter, usable length and sensing-element position.
  • Test method: specify insertion or surface measurements.
  • Reference system: confirm the thermometer, readout and reporting requirements.
  • Installation: check the power supply and space for safe probe handling.
