Vaisala DMP1 Dew Point Probe for Dry Rooms

The Vaisala DMP1 Dew Point and Temperature Probe is designed for fast, reliable monitoring throughout extremely dry manufacturing areas. Multiple probes can be installed at critical locations to identify local variations instead of relying on a single room measurement.

Its fast response and low dew point capability make the DMP1 particularly suitable for lithium-ion battery production, semiconductor manufacturing, cleanrooms and other moisture-sensitive processes.

Why Choose the Vaisala DMP1?

  • Room-wide monitoring: distribute probes across a dry room to reveal local differences in moisture conditions.
  • Fast response: detect changing conditions in minutes so environmental-control systems and production teams can respond sooner.
  • Low dew point capability: measure the ultra-dry conditions required by battery and semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Stable measurement: automatic calibration and sensor purge help maintain long-term performance and chemical resistance.
  • Industrial construction: DRYCAP technology tolerates temporary condensation, dust and chemicals encountered in demanding environments.
  • Flexible integration: use Modbus RTU directly or connect the probe to a compatible Indigo transmitter or handheld indicator.

Fixed or Portable Measurement

Permanent Monitoring and Automation

The DMP1 can communicate directly with an automation or monitoring system through Modbus RTU. When a permanent display, analogue output, relay or Ethernet connection is required, it can be paired with a compatible Vaisala Indigo transmitter.

Portable Use with Indigo80

Connect the DMP1 to the Vaisala Indigo80 handheld indicator for portable measurement display, data logging, diagnostics, probe configuration and field calibration. Indigo80 accepts up to two compatible Vaisala measurement devices, allowing a DMP1 to be checked alongside another probe or supporting measurement.

Product distinction: DMP1 is an industrial dry-room probe that can also be used portably with Indigo80. DMP80 is a separate portable dew point probe designed specifically for handheld spot measurements.

The DMP1 also works with Vaisala Insight PC software for configuration, diagnostics, measurement-data viewing and calibration support.

Typical Applications

  • Lithium-ion battery dry rooms: monitor the ultra-low humidity conditions that affect material quality, safety and production yield.
  • Semiconductor manufacturing: maintain stable dry conditions in moisture-sensitive fabrication and processing areas.
  • Cleanrooms: identify local differences in dryness across controlled environments.
  • Gigafactory environmental monitoring: distribute multiple compact probes throughout large production areas.
  • Dry booths and controlled spaces: monitor smaller production zones with strict moisture limits.
  • Research and pilot production: support material development, testing and process scale-up under controlled dry conditions.

Planning a DMP1 Monitoring Layout

Confirm the required dew point range, room size, airflow pattern, critical production locations, acceptable response time and the number of measurement points. Probe positions should represent the occupied process area and avoid direct supply-air discharge, doors, wall surfaces and stagnant corners unless those locations are intentionally being monitored.

Also decide whether each point needs direct Modbus communication, a local Indigo display, connection to the facility monitoring system or occasional portable checking with Indigo80.

Vaisala DMP Series Comparison

Choose the DMP probe according to the installation environment, process temperature, pressure and required dew point range.

ModelBest suited toDew point rangeTemperature or pressure limitInstallation
DMP1 Dry rooms, battery production and semiconductor manufacturing −70 to +80 °C Td/f Probe operating temperature −40 to +80 °C Compact fixed probe for distributed room monitoring
DMP5 Hot industrial dryers, ovens and process ducts −40 to +100 °C Td/f Process temperature up to +180 °C Long direct-insertion probe with adjustable mounting depth
DMP6 Very-high-temperature dryers, ovens and industrial processes −25 to +100 °C Td/f Direct process measurement from +100 to +350 °C Direct-insertion probe with a dedicated passive cooling set
DMP7 Tight spaces, compact equipment, dry gas and compressed air −70 to +80 °C Td/f Process pressure up to 10 bar Short 41 mm sensing head with pressure-tight fitting
DMP8 Pressurised compressed-air and industrial-gas pipelines −70 to +80 °C Td/f Process pressure up to 40 bar absolute Adjustable insertion depth with optional ball-valve installation

Quick selection: choose DMP1 for distributed dry-room monitoring, DMP5 for processes up to +180 °C, DMP6 for very hot processes up to +350 °C, DMP7 when installation space is limited, and DMP8 for pressurised pipelines up to 40 bar.

All five probes support Modbus RTU, compatible Vaisala Indigo transmitters, the Indigo80 handheld indicator and Vaisala Insight software. The final selection should also consider process gas, flow velocity, mounting access, required outputs and calibration arrangements.
