  • Dew point measurement range from −70 to +80 °C Td/f
  • Pressure-tight installation for processes from 0 to 10 bar
  • Use with Modbus RTU, an Indigo transmitter or the portable Indigo80 handheld indicator
  • Suitable for dry rooms, compressed air, industrial drying and semiconductor equipment

Vaisala DMP7 Dew Point and Temperature Probe

The Vaisala DMP7 is a compact industrial probe for measuring low dew points in locations where a conventional probe is difficult to install. Its short sensing head can be mounted directly in a process or connected remotely to an Indigo transmitter, making it particularly useful inside compact equipment, dry-air systems and restricted pipework.

Vaisala DRYCAP® sensor technology provides stable measurement in demanding low-humidity conditions. The sensor tolerates condensation, oil, dust and most chemicals, while automatic sensor purge helps maintain performance between calibration intervals.

Why Choose the DMP7?

  • Fits restricted installations: the short probe is suited to compact machinery, narrow ducts and other locations with little insertion space.
  • Measures very dry conditions: the wide dew point range supports dry-room, compressed-air and industrial drying applications.
  • Installs directly in pressurised processes: the pressure-tight fitting supports in-line measurement up to 10 bar without a separate sampling system.
  • Recovers from demanding conditions: DRYCAP technology withstands condensation and common industrial contaminants.
  • Offers flexible integration: use the probe directly through Modbus RTU or add an Indigo transmitter for a display, analogue outputs, relays and expanded system connectivity.

Typical Applications

  • Semiconductor and battery-manufacturing equipment
  • Dry rooms and glove boxes
  • Compressed-air and dry-gas systems
  • Industrial dryers and drying cabinets
  • Blanket gases used in metal heat treatment
  • Compact process equipment with restricted installation space

Fixed or Portable Measurement

For straightforward digital integration, the DMP7 can operate as a standalone Modbus RTU device. Where a permanent local display, analogue signal, relay control or Ethernet connection is required, pair it with a compatible Vaisala Indigo transmitter.

Portable Use with Indigo80

The DMP7 can also connect to the Vaisala Indigo80 handheld indicator, turning the installed-probe technology into a portable measurement and diagnostic setup. Indigo80 can display live readings, log measurement data and support field checking or adjustment of compatible probes. Up to two compatible Vaisala measurement devices can be connected at the same time, which is useful when comparing locations or using a second probe for a supporting measurement.

Product distinction: DMP7 is an Indigo-compatible industrial probe that can be used with Indigo80. DMP80 is a separate portable dew point probe designed specifically for handheld measurement with Indigo80.

The DMP7 also works with Vaisala Insight PC software for configuration, diagnostics, data viewing and field calibration.

Choosing Between DMP7 and DMP8

Selection pointDMP7DMP8
Best suited to Tight spaces and compact equipment Pressurised pipelines requiring adjustable insertion depth
Maximum pressure 10 bar 40 bar
Installation Short, pressure-tight probe fitting Adjustable installation with a ball-valve option

Selection note: choose the DMP7 when physical clearance is the main constraint. For higher-pressure pipelines or installations that need adjustable probe depth and easy removal, consider the DMP8.

Installation and Ordering Considerations

Before selecting the probe and accessories, confirm the expected dew point, process temperature, operating pressure, available installation space, process connection and required output. Also decide whether the application needs direct Modbus communication, a permanent Indigo transmitter or portable operation with Indigo80.

Correct probe placement is important. The measurement point should represent the actual process condition and avoid stagnant pockets, leaks, ambient-air ingress and locations where condensate can collect.

Vaisala DMP Series Comparison

Choose the DMP probe according to the installation environment, process temperature, pressure and required dew point range.

ModelBest suited toDew point rangeTemperature or pressure limitInstallation
DMP1 Dry rooms, battery production and semiconductor manufacturing −70 to +80 °C Td/f Probe operating temperature −40 to +80 °C Compact fixed probe for distributed room monitoring
DMP5 Hot industrial dryers, ovens and process ducts −40 to +100 °C Td/f Process temperature up to +180 °C Long direct-insertion probe with adjustable mounting depth
DMP6 Very-high-temperature dryers, ovens and industrial processes −25 to +100 °C Td/f Direct process measurement from +100 to +350 °C Direct-insertion probe with a dedicated passive cooling set
DMP7 Tight spaces, compact equipment, dry gas and compressed air −70 to +80 °C Td/f Process pressure up to 10 bar Short 41 mm sensing head with pressure-tight fitting
DMP8 Pressurised compressed-air and industrial-gas pipelines −70 to +80 °C Td/f Process pressure up to 40 bar absolute Adjustable insertion depth with optional ball-valve installation

Quick selection: choose DMP1 for distributed dry-room monitoring, DMP5 for processes up to +180 °C, DMP6 for very hot processes up to +350 °C, DMP7 when installation space is limited, and DMP8 for pressurised pipelines up to 40 bar.

All five probes support Modbus RTU, compatible Vaisala Indigo transmitters, the Indigo80 handheld indicator and Vaisala Insight software. The final selection should also consider process gas, flow velocity, mounting access, required outputs and calibration arrangements.
