Tokico FGB FRO FRP Positive Displacement Oil Flow Meter

The Tokico FGB, FRO and FRP are high-accuracy mechanical positive displacement flow meters for measuring diesel, kerosene, fuel oil, heavy oil, crude palm oil and other compatible industrial liquids.

Available in sizes from 15 to 100 mm, these durable Tokico flow meters provide direct mechanical totalisation, accuracy within ±0.5% and flow capacities ranging from small-volume fuel consumption to large oil-transfer applications.

Tokico Positive Displacement Oil Flow Meter

The Tokico FGB, FRO and FRP positive displacement flow meters provide accurate mechanical measurement and totalisation of diesel, kerosene, fuel oil, heavy oil, crude palm oil and other compatible industrial liquids.

The liquid volume is measured directly using precision gear or Roots-type rotors. This positive displacement measurement principle delivers dependable accuracy across a broad flow range without requiring an electrical power supply for the standard mechanical counter.

Different meter sizes, rotor materials and temperature configurations are available. Final model selection should be based on the liquid type, viscosity, operating temperature, pressure, connection size and required flow range.

Why Choose a Tokico Flow Meter?

  • High Measurement Accuracy
Standard measurement accuracy is within ±0.5% of the measured quantity. Selected configurations may be available with accuracy up to ±0.2%.
  • Direct Volumetric Measurement
The positive displacement measuring principle divides the flowing liquid into fixed volumes for accurate flow measurement and totalisation.
  • Long-Term Measurement Stability
The non-contact rotation of the Roots-type rotors reduces mechanical wear and helps preserve measurement accuracy throughout extended operation.
  • Low Pressure Loss
Non-contact rotor operation produces lower pressure loss than many conventional displacement-type flow meters.
  • Mechanical Operation
The standard local totalising counter operates without an external electrical power supply.
  • Durable Industrial Construction
Cast-iron or ductile-iron bodies and application-specific rotor materials support dependable measurement in demanding oil-handling systems.

Flow Range Selection

The exact measuring range depends on the nominal meter size, liquid viscosity and whether operation is continuous or intermittent. Increasing liquid viscosity generally allows measurement at a lower flow rate, while the permissible maximum continuous flow may be lower than the intermittent maximum flow.

ModelNominal SizeGeneral Measuring CapacitySuitable Duty
FGB 15 mm Small-volume measurement within the FGB range Burners, small generators and machinery
FGB 20 mm Intermediate capacity within the FGB range Fuel-consumption monitoring and small transfer systems
FGB 25 mm Up to approximately 3,000 L/h Generators, boilers and fuel-transfer systems
FRO 40 mm Medium-volume measurement within the FRO range Boiler fuel and industrial oil systems
FRO 50 mm Up to approximately 15 m³/h Oil transfer, loading and consumption monitoring
FRP 80 mm Large-volume measurement within the FRP range Bulk oil transfer and palm-oil processing
FRP 100 mm Up to approximately 130 m³/h Terminals, storage facilities and large transfer systems

For accurate selection, refer to the product catalogue and provide Seacom with the minimum, normal and maximum flow rates together with the liquid viscosity and temperature.

Recommended Installation Arrangement

  • Install a Strainer Upstream
A properly sized strainer helps prevent foreign particles from entering and damaging the measuring chamber.
  • Confirm the Flow Direction
Install the meter according to the flow-direction arrow shown on the meter body.
  • Keep the Pipeline Full
The measuring chamber should remain completely filled with liquid during operation.
  • Remove Air and Gas
Entrained air or gas can cause measurement errors. An air eliminator may be required for certain installations.
  • Avoid Sudden Flow Surges
Open valves gradually to protect the rotor mechanism from hydraulic shock and excessive overspeed.
  • Provide a Bypass
A bypass arrangement allows the flowmeter and strainer to be isolated for inspection, servicing or calibration.

Mechanical and Electronic Versions
