The Honeywell Elster Helix H4000 is a Woltmann-type bulk water meter designed for measuring cold potable water in commercial, industrial and water-distribution applications.
The Honeywell Elster Helix H4000 is a Woltmann-type turbine water meter designed for measuring bulk flows of cold potable water. It is suitable for commercial and industrial water measurement, revenue billing and monitoring within water-supply and distribution networks.
The H4000 combines an extended measuring range with a robust flanged meter body and protected mechanical register. It can be installed in horizontal, vertical or inclined pipelines while maintaining its specified forward-flow metrology.
Measurement principle: the Helix H4000 is a Woltmann turbine or velocity-type bulk water meter. It is not a positive-displacement flowmeter.

Available meter sizes, flange standards, pressure ratings, laying lengths and pulse values depend on the selected H4000 configuration. Confirm the complete model specification before ordering.
The H4000 uses a turbine rotor positioned in the water flow. Water passing through the meter rotates the turbine at a speed related to the volumetric flow rate. The mechanical transmission converts this rotation into an accumulated volume shown on the register.
Because it is a velocity-type meter, the H4000 is particularly suitable for larger pipe sizes and bulk-water flow rates. It should not be selected using positive-displacement-meter sizing practices.
The Helix H4000 can be installed in horizontal, vertical or inclined pipelines. The pipeline must remain completely filled with water during measurement, and the flow direction must correspond with the arrow marked on the meter body.
The H4000 supports forward-flow measurement throughout the range. Reverse-flow measurement is available according to meter size and configuration, with specified reverse-flow metrology available for sizes up to DN150.
If reverse flow is expected, confirm the approved flow range, register behaviour and pulse-output requirements before ordering. Reverse flow should not be assumed to have the same performance for every size.
Foreign material can damage the turbine rotor or affect measurement performance. An appropriate upstream strainer is recommended where the water may contain rust, scale, sand or other particles.
The Helix H4000 can be equipped with an optional PR7 inductive pulse transmitter. The pulse signal allows accumulated water consumption to be transmitted to a remote counter, building-management system, data logger, telemetry system or compatible controller.
The pulse value depends on the meter size and selected register configuration. Confirm the required pulse weight, transmitter type, cable arrangement and receiving-device input before ordering.
The standard mechanical register displays accumulated water volume. A separate compatible pulse receiver, flow-rate indicator or control system is required when remote totalisation or instantaneous flow-rate display is needed.
Select the meter according to the normal, minimum and maximum operating flow—not only the nominal pipe diameter. An oversized meter may provide inadequate measurement at low flow, while an undersized meter can produce excessive pressure loss and mechanical loading.
