The compact Vaisala WXT530 Series measures wind, precipitation, barometric pressure, air temperature and relative humidity in selectable combinations for industrial and environmental weather monitoring.
The Vaisala WXT530 Series is a compact family of solid-state weather transmitters for measuring wind speed, wind direction, liquid precipitation, barometric pressure, air temperature and relative humidity. Six model combinations allow users to purchase only the weather parameters required by the application.
Unlike a conventional automatic weather station assembled from several separate sensors, the WXT530 integrates the selected measurements into one lightweight instrument. Its solid-state design has no moving wind or rain-measurement parts, helping reduce mechanical wear, routine maintenance and installation complexity.
The fully equipped WXT536 measures all six parameters. Other models provide dedicated rain, wind, pressure-temperature-humidity, or combined measurement packages.
| Model | Pressure, Temperature and Humidity | Precipitation | Wind | Recommended Use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| WXT531 | — | Yes | — | Compact rain and hail measurement |
| WXT532 | — | — | Yes | Wind speed and wind direction |
| WXT533 | — | Yes | Yes | Wind and precipitation monitoring |
| WXT534 | Yes | — | — | Pressure, temperature and humidity monitoring |
| WXT535 | Yes | Yes | — | PTU and precipitation monitoring |
| WXT536 | Yes | Yes | Yes | Complete six-parameter weather monitoring |
Selection guidance: Choose WXT532 when only wind speed and direction are required. Choose WXT536 for a complete compact weather station. WXT533 is suitable when wind and rain are needed without pressure, temperature and humidity, while WXT534 provides the PTU parameters without wind or precipitation.
| Measurement | Technology | Operational Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Wind Speed and Direction | Vaisala WINDCAP ultrasonic sensors | No rotating cups or mechanical wind vane |
| Precipitation | Vaisala RAINCAP acoustic impact sensor | No collecting bucket that can flood or clog |
| Barometric Pressure | Vaisala BAROCAP sensor | Stable capacitive pressure measurement |
| Relative Humidity | Vaisala HUMICAP R2 sensor | Established capacitive humidity measurement |
| Air Temperature | Resistive platinum sensor | Accurate ambient-temperature measurement |
| Specification | Performance |
|---|---|
| Wind-Speed Observation Range | 0–60 m/s |
| Wind-Speed Reporting Range | 0–75 m/s |
| Wind-Speed Accuracy | ±3% at 10 m/s |
| Wind-Speed Resolution | 0.1 m/s; km/h, mph and knots also available |
| Wind Direction | 0–360° azimuth |
| Wind-Direction Accuracy | ±3° at 10 m/s |
| Wind-Direction Resolution | 1° |
| Response Time | 0.25 seconds |
| Reported Variables | Average, maximum and minimum |
| Parameter | Range | Accuracy |
|---|---|---|
| Barometric Pressure | 500–1100 hPa | ±0.5 hPa at 0 °C to +30 °C and 600–1100 hPa; ±1 hPa across the wider specified temperature range |
| Air Temperature | -52 °C to +60 °C | ±0.3 °C at +20 °C for the sensor element |
| Relative Humidity | 0–100% RH | ±3% RH from 0–90% RH; ±5% RH from 90–100% RH |
The PTU module used for pressure, temperature and humidity is replaceable, simplifying scheduled maintenance of models equipped with these measurements.
The RAINCAP sensor detects the acoustic impact of individual raindrops on its stainless-steel surface. The transmitter calculates accumulated rainfall, current and peak intensity, rain-event duration and hail-related values without a conventional tipping bucket.
