Vaisala WINDCAP® Ultrasonic Wind Sensor WMT700 is a robust, high-accuracy ultrasonic anemometer for measuring wind speed and direction in demanding professional applications.
With no moving parts, a durable stainless-steel structure and measurement ranges up to 90 m/s, WMT700 is designed for reliable, continuous wind monitoring in meteorology, aviation, maritime, industrial and severe-weather applications.
The Vaisala WINDCAP® Ultrasonic Wind Sensor WMT700 Series measures horizontal wind speed and wind direction using ultrasonic time-of-flight technology.
Three ultrasonic transducers provide multiple measurement paths, allowing WMT700 to deliver reliable wind data from all directions. The measurement automatically compensates for the effects of temperature, humidity and pressure.

WMT700 is designed for continuous outdoor wind monitoring where dependable data is required despite changing weather conditions. Its stainless-steel construction is resistant to contamination and corrosion, while the ultrasonic measurement principle eliminates mechanical bearings and other moving components commonly found in conventional anemometers.
Depending on configuration, WMT700 is available with heating for the transducers, sensor arms and body to help reduce the accumulation of snow and ice in cold-weather installations.
WMT700 can be integrated into data acquisition systems, automatic weather stations and other monitoring systems. Depending on configuration, communication options include RS-485, RS-422, RS-232 and SDI-12, with analog outputs also available.
The sensor operates from 9–36 VDC. Separate power requirements apply when sensor heating is selected.
The WMT700 Series is suitable where long-term measurement reliability, high wind capability and minimal mechanical maintenance are important. It is used in professional meteorological and aviation installations around the world and is designed to meet WMO and ICAO wind measurement requirements.
The correct WMT700 configuration depends on the required wind speed range, communication interface, installation environment and whether sensor heating is required.
